President's Message :
I want to thank the members present at the last meeting and those who called or e mailed a response about my new assignment and my position as the President. I was surprised by the brevity of the vote, I removed myself from the meeting so that there could be an open format, went out and ordered a beer, before the bartender returned I was called back into the meeting to hear of the unanimous vote. I want to thank all of you for the vote of confidence. There were some negative responses which were read into the minutes expressing concern that I might have to investigate members of this Lodge. I assure you that if that was to come about, I would remove myself from the investigation and if necessary file a grievance. Again, thank you for your support.
This month's Guest Speaker is Sheriff Jim Kralick of Rockland County. It is especially appropriate that Jim is here this month, since next month Kathy Boudin, who was involved in the Brinks Robbery in 1981 in which two Nyack Police Officers and a Security Guard were killed in the Robbery, is up for parole. I have sent out a forwarded email that can be downloaded and mailed to the Governor and the Head of Parole requesting that she be turned down for Parole. In this newsletter there will be another copy of that letter that the members can sign and bring to the meeting so we can give them to the Sheriff who will see that they get to the right people. This worked when we signe the letters for the convicted killer of Honor Wall Member, PO Alex Bodnar, hopefully it will work again, and this miscreant who's Federal Prosecutor, Rudy Giulliani screwed up and went with the lesser charge, will never see daylight or freedom again.
As the summer approaches, I had asked the assembled members, that since we meet throughout the summer, would the members mind if we dress down for the meetings and wear some more comfortable and appropriate summer wear, and no we will not wear a toga as was suggested (I doubt anyone wants to see me in my Spiderman Sheets toga).
Remember, the August meeting is our BBQ meeting, we will have no guest speakers and very little business to discuss, just an end of summer BBQ for the members to get together and enjoy themselves, the last two have been successful based upon the amount of food and adult beverages consumed, and seems like a tradition we should continue.
Since we are growing we have asked Lodge Trustee Joe Andujar, to step up as our State Trustee also so we can be better represented at the State Meetings, which must of the Board will be attending this June and possibly July. We have also asked Dan Doellenger, Town of Chester PD to come on board as a Lodge Trustee.
We are always looking for guest speakers, we will have a few local judges coming in the next two months to explain how they do their arraignments up here for us downstate guys, and maybe get a judge from the City to explain how we do it downstate. If anyone knows of a person that they would like to hear speak, let us know and we will get in touch with them.
Lastly, even though the summer is here, wear you vest and stay safe.-Tom
Congratulations:
To Dan Doellenger on his promotion to Sgt in the Town of Chester PD.
Thank You
To the members who turned out for the Poker Run and the FOP Picnic, who pitched in and gave the Board a hand, we are always looking for volunteers.
Get Well
To Executive Vice President Larry Bennet, who was injured in a serious RMP accident on 6/21/01, He is home recovering from his injuries, what a way to get the summer off!!!!!
July Honorees:
