President's Message :
The March meeting was well attended. Our scheduled guest speak the actor Armand Assante sends his regrets that he had to cancel at the last minute, but was out of the state on business, and will be rescheduling.

As I have stated at the meeting that due to a scheduling conflict, we will be hosting a BBQ meeting at the Legion for the August Meeting, as a fundraiser is being hosted inside the Hall.  We will be using the Pavillion, and if this is successful, maybe continue it at the summer meetings for a change of pace.

We are quickly approaching the four hundred member mark, and are on course for one of my goals to make us a professional law enforcement organization.  Our next major project is the Law Enforcement Memorial Wall.  We are presently on course with that, and still trying to raise the necessary funds for that.  If any members know of any way for us to raise money for the landscaped park like memorial, please let us know.

As you know there are cell phones available to our members at the reduced rate of $10.99 a month for the first six months and $15.99 for the last six months.  As we increase in size I will be trying to get more benefits for our members and their families.  As for the Driver Accident Reduction Course, depending on the size of the response, we will be hosting it several times a year.  In the May issue we will have more information as well as a reservation form.  For our members and their families it will be free , with a nominal fee for the community who would like to attend.

Due to our increase in size, we are trying to update our records, and will be asking that all members make sure that their dues are paid up, we will also be asking in the next few months that members start bringing their membership cards to verify membership.

Remember, this is your newsletter, if you would like to see a congratulations on a promotion, transfer wedding retirement, etc condolences and get well wishes, please send them along.

Remember, Stay Safe, and wear your vest....

Congratulations:

Congratulations to Frank Cush, son of Housing Committee Chairman, Frank Cush, on his elevation to the Boy Scout's highest honor, Eagle Scout.  Frank Jr. was a big help, along with his younger brother at our venison dinner.  Frank's parents and the Lodge are proud of his achievements.

Reminder:
The May meeting will be a Turkey Shoot meeting.  We will be raffling off numerous prizes.  The proceeds will go to the Building Fund Committee, towards the purchase of our own building.

Special Thanks:
Special thanks to New York State Assemblyman Tom Kirwan R. Newburgh, who is one of the few politician to speak out against Governor Pataki's comments on the men and women of the NYPD and especially the Street Crime Unit.  In the words of Assemblyman Kirwan,"this is the most professional Police Department in the world.  Assemblyman Kirwan is a retired NYSP Lieutenant, and worked with the DETF between 1986 and 1990.
